San Simeon - Las Vegas

We left Big Sur to boondock (no power or hook ups) or one night in San Simeon. On our way to San Simeon we went to a restaurant called Whale Watchers Cafe, we did not see any whales though. We also stopped by Elephant Seal Beach to see a bunch of pregnant seals on the beach, a strange place but cool to see their big bellies about to have a baby.

Ok, ok there is one more place we stopped, Hearst Castle. William Hearst's Dad was a very wealthy minor. Their family also liked to camp on their acres of property. When Willam's Dad died, William inherited everything, being an only child and all. William started a newspaper company and decided to build a castle with the land his family had camped on. He built a huge castle, with two pools, cottages for the guests, and a zoo for all animals to feel free.

We got to our campsite that night in San Simeon. Just before sunset we took a bike ride down to the coast, we had a fire and then went to sleep. During the night our battery died, but Dad got the generator running just to keep the heat & fridge going for a bit.  By: Kingston
